w/c 15th April - 5 things this week
1. Kelly Slater is no longer on the Championship Tour but don’t call him retired.
11 time world champ, 56 event wins over 4 decades, the youngest and oldest world champion & owner of a perfectly styled cranium. At age 52, Kelly felt the swing of the WSL’s mid season axe to be finally cut from the tour. He still has a couple of wild card entries so it’s not the final goodbye. The world’s surf media have had their relevant articles poised and ready for this moment in the GOAT’s career for the last ten years or so, but most entertaining was this piece about how he was chaired up the beach by a couple of Aussie heroes.

2. Shyam Rajdev on his journey capturing emotions at the peak of motorsport
Airhorn of respect to my buddy Shy for absolutely killing it in the content capture and photography game. He’s worked with the biggest names in music & motorsport and is now Head of Content at Andretti Global. He’s just getting started. Take 5 and check out a recent interview here
3. 10 Over Surf Shop Opens Concept Store in Cornwall
After establishing a solid online presence in the last 18 months, 10 over have opened up a store at Lantegue Studios near Newquay. A shame to see the Finnish brand with some of the wildest bikes designs in recent years that made it beyond the prototype stage, have unfortunately filed for bankruptcy. Love ‘em or loath them, they were definitely a progressive brand that contributed to the industry.
5. Nike CEO blames remote work on innovation slowdown. Analysts disagree.
